Marci Mitchell has had music in her heart since she can remember. She started singing when she was around 8 years old and grew up singing and participating in school plays, theater, choirs, and church. She joined her first "professional" band in high school at the age of 16 and she loved it! She continued to play in college to help pay for school, then immediately moved to Nashville after she graduated. She was lucky enough to find some support and began working in the studio then to compile her album and the rest, as they say, is history.
Christian: Country Music has many new fans in Europe who may be learning about you for the first time. How would you describe the music you play to someone who’s never seen or heard you before?
Marci: I think my music is country with an edge. I grew up listening to all types of music, so I imagine that people can hear that in my music also. There is a touch of tradition, a touch of rock, and a lot of country!
Christian: What is your current CD and how is it doing?
Marci: My current cd is self-titled "Marci Mitchell" and we've been working tirelessly to promote it for almost two years now. It has gotten rave reviews and I am currently in the studio trying to write as much as possible.
Christian: How did you find the title for the CD and what inspired you?
Marci: It was hard to pick a single song out to title the CD after, so I kept it simple with my name.
Christian: Do you write you own songs and if not, how do you go about finding songs for your albums?
Marci: I do write my own material, however I want to put the best songs on my albums, be it mine or another writers. I write for myself mostly and hope that others like it too. I did have 3 songs on our cd that I either wrote or co-wrote.
Christian: What’s your favorite song among all the songs you’ve recorded and what’s the story behind it?
Marci: Probably "That's Enough" Typically, I love a good up-tempo song, but the words and melody of this song fits me so perfect that I really honestly feel it every time I sing this song.
Christian: How much creative control do you have over your music?
Marci: Right now I pretty much work independently until I can place the perfect team around me, so I have a lot of freedom in my music.
Christian: There’s a lot of work that goes into a number one hit ... what’s it take to make it?
Marci: I'd have multiple ones already if I knew! I believe it takes a great team of dedicated people working around you and of course, talent and great songs!!
Christian: How much do your songs influence your audience?
Marci: I hope a lot! That is every singer/songwriters dream - to have their music touch someone's life in some way.
Christian: What’s unique about you that differentiates you from other artists and there music?
Marci: I think I have an unusual voice in that I don't sound or try to sound like anyone else out there on the radio. We all have our own style, I think. I hope that when people come to our shows, they see that I am real - what you see is what you get.
Christian: What message would you like to send to your European fans?
Marci: Thanks for the support of country music and especially for the support of my music.
