Sound & Speed - NASCAR And
Country Music Come Together For Charity
By Jolene Downs - CSO Contributing

Listening
to country music and watching your favorite drivers on the NASCAR track
are as American as apple pie and ice cream. And no one steps up
to the plate faster to help those in need than the speed demons of the
race track and the stars of Country Music. So it doesn't come as
a surprise that Nashville is where these two favorite past-times
collide for a wild weekend of fun for fans January 12 & 13.. There
are 20 artists and 17 drivers confirmed to participate in this event
and over 20 NEXTEL Cup Series cars scheduled to be on display as
well. For a complete list of participants and the cars that will
be there, visit http://www.soundandspeed2007.com.
Sound & Speed, presented by SunTrust, is a two day event that
brings people in from all over the country. On Friday, fans can
attend the Gears and Guitars Auction which features lots of racing and
music memorabilia. While bidding for fun stuff and helping out a
good cause they enjoy food, drinks, a live performance by a country
artist and a visit from a NASCAR driver. They can follow up their
afternoon of fun by enjoying the Honky Tonk Pit Stop, cruising the
clubs and bars in downtown Nashville. There will be live music,
specials and fun for all.
Saturday morning kicks off with a solid day of fun around town.
Among the offerings is a Q & A session with groups of
artists and drivers. You can catch a glimpse into their lives in
an up close and personal way. There will be a Sponsor show with
interactive displays. Fans may be lucky enough to get an autograph from
a driver or artist during one of the autograph sessions. Some of the
legends of NASCAR and music will team up for hour long 'story-telling'
sessions.
All these sessions are geared for an up close fan experience.
The
event finishes off with a Saturday night headliner concert featuring
great music from Rodney Atkins, Josh Turner, Jo Dee Messina and special
guest John Anderson. All of this for two great
charities.
Victory Junction
Gang Camp was founded by Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie in honor of
their son. It is a camp geared specifically for the needs of
children who are chronically ill or have life-threatening
illnesses. It gives them the opportunity to experience the joys
of camping in a safe atmosphere. Visit www.victoryjunction.org
for more information on how this organization is able to give children
back their childhood for the short time they are at camp.
The Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum is operated by the Country
Music Foundation which is a not for profit, educational
organization. It does more than just allow the fans to see
memorabilia from their favorite artists. Through that
memorabilia, the evolving history of country music is preserved and
shared all over the world in many different formats. It is an
unrivaled source of educational information about anything relating to
country music. For more information on the Hall of Fame &
Museum visit www.countrymusichalloffame.com.
