Maggie Austin - Time And Again
CD Review: Jim Moulton

Maggie is a beautiful young gal who has a real nice sound on her first EP which is a real worthwhile project. She co-wrote five of the six songs. The sound quality is very remarkable and professional sounding. The songs have a depth and emotion to them that sounds like they are from a much more seasoned songwriter. The production is crisp, great mix, Maggie's vocals are always right on, capturing the mood of the song.

"Touchdown" is a kickin' upbeat country tune with some great steel and lead guitar. The lead guitar has a riff that is a great original sounding hook and this song makes you wanna move. Great drums on this song and through out the disc.

"Time And Again" (title track) is a beauty of a country love ballad. Great melody with some nice vocal arrangements. Great bass on this track. The quality of this recording really shines, just sweet to the ears.

"I Still Need" - Great ballad with some very nice lyrics, vocals and melodic hooks. Maggie reminds me of some of the great female artists of the ninety's like Martina McBride and Terri Clark.

Her one cover song is the very popular "Breathe" which she nails. Not an easy song to sing, she takes command of the vocals in a similar version to the original.

"Kiss Me" is a great upbeat country rocker with some honkytonkin' piano, great bass runs and some nice guitar pickin'.

"Taking Time" is a pretty mid-tempo song, that has some awesome electric slide guitar, love the imagery of the lyrics. Really moves well with some great musical hooks.

Maggie has some serious writing talent and is also gifted with a great voice, go give her a visit at www.maggieaustin.com
