Wreckers - Stand Still, Look Pretty
Review By Penny , CSO Staff Journalist
"Leave The Pieces" is the first single from "The Wreckers"
the new duo team of the multi-platinum-selling, grammy-winning artist Michelle Branch and
Nashville based singer-song-writer and friend Jessica Harp. Their debut album "Stand Still,
Pretty" show the talent of each of these remarkable artists. They are on their way to becoming a
great female duo that country music will have the honor in having around.
They are being called modern country's hippest duo right now. I love their perfect blend of
country, rock and roll with a hint of pop. They really have the heartfelt harmonies that we have
missed in country music for a while. With totally different musical backgrounds, Michelle's
roots in pop and rock, and Jessica's in country, together they bring a style to country music that is
unique and I think will be around for a long time to come.
The "Good Kind" is one of many that demonstrate the wonderful harmonies these girls have, their
voices blend perfectly together and what comes out is perfection in my opinion. 10 out of the 12
tracks on this album were either written or co-written by Michelle and Jessica. One of my favorites
on this album is the song "My, Oh My", it's a little more up tempo and
talks about how things used
to be; "Look how time flies, look how the world changes in the blink of an eye," how true that is.
They both say that it's one of their favorites to perform. You can sure tell
they have fun singing
it. Turn it up and just try not to have fun listening to this one, I bet you'll be tapping a foot or two,
maybe even getting up and dancing a little bit to it.
They say that all of the songs have a story to them, and that this record sums up the course of their
6 year friendship. The song "The Good Kind", was written at the beginning of their friendship and
"Stand Still" was written when they were in the studio making this record. This summer they have
gotten invitations to hit the road with Rascal Flatts and Gary Allan and very much looking forward
to that. Not only do these gifted artists get to write and sing with their best friend, they get to live
their dream with each other, what could be better than that, they say.
