Ty Herndon - Piecing it Together in Concert
by Christy Cowan-Baker,
Ty Herndon was in western Michigan to perform at Sparta Town and Country Days; and perform he did! My home state of Michigan was blessed with not one, but two concerts since our interview at the
CMA Country Music Fest in Nashville.
Herndon began his performance like an expert seamstress would begin piecing together a distinctive and award-winning quilt. He established the framework with his rendition of the Tina Turner classic "Proud Mary" then highlighted this piece with "I Want My Goodbye Back." He continued creating this musical montage by alternating his number one hits; "Hands Of A Working Man" and "It Must Be Love," with a cut of his brand new single "Right About Now."
No music cover (pun intended) would be complete without including treasured pieces from our grassroots past so it was wonderful to hear Herndon's versions of "Hey Good Looking" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" intertwined with "A Man Holdin’ On." He was so captivating on stage and easily drew the audience closer with every note.
Herndon has been weaving his magic on stage for quite some time now so it came as no surprise that he so skillfully tied his whole performance together with an encore of "Living In A Moment" and a sultry rendition of "You Can Leave Your Hat On." Herndon's voice wraps around your senses more comfortably than even your Granny's favorite old blanket so it's no surprise that you leave the venue feeling like you've just been hugged.
