10/10/10Everybody's
a buzz about 10/10/10. Several ethnic groups swear there is
something magical about the number ten, and having the number
ten times three has caused an outright fervor. The new group out
of Greeneville, Tennessee probably doesn't need any luck since
they have enough already and I can vouch for that.
Sometimes as
a journalist, you have a lucky day and you get the opportunity
to not only discover someone who is certain to succeed but to
actually meet them.
Today was one of those lucky days for me. As
for The Band Perry, It's clearly obvious there is something to
it, since their hometown as declared October 10, 2010 as The
Band Perry Day!
The Band Perry is comprised of Siblings Kimberly, Reid, and Neil
Perry. After the declaration this unique trio took to the
streets of their hometown, for an acoustic show to promote their
self titled CD which debuts this week. With only their guitars
the Perry's performed songs from their new album for thousands
of fans, friends, and family.
"Hip to my Heart", "Independence", and "Postcard from Paris" was
among the hometown favorites. They closed with the song that put
them in the top twenty of CMT and GAC, "If I Die Young." After
the show The Perry's took the time to meet fans, take pictures,
and sign autographs for hours.
After seeing their performance today, it's easy to see why this
very talented and pleasant trio has been nominated as Vocal
Group of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. And talk
about luck! this fall they will be touring with Country super
star Alan Jackson. |
