Nicole Opens up, Kim Gives Birth and Billy Ray’s Dancing with the Stars
Nicole
Kidman (right) finally opened up about her marriage to Keith Urban
on Oprah Winfrey's Oscar special Thursday night.
"Keith
is doing very well," she told longtime friend and fellow Aussie Russell
Crowe. "We've been through a lot." When Russell began asking
her another question, she interrupted. "Let me finish that because that
will be seen as a superficial answer and I don't like to give those."
Am
I the only one who thinks that was incredibly rude of her? And can you say
awkward and weird? She interrupted him time and time again and managed to
play coy and avoid most of his questions after making him promise to answer
all of her questions truthfully.
And
really, Nic, it’s time to lay off the Botox. Your frozen forehead and lack
of expression border on creepy. But I digress. Here’s what else Nicole had
to say about her marriage to Keith.
"We've dug really deep. Three months into our marriage we had to dig
really deep. And that's what we are doing. We're in the process of doing
that."
"Very
courageous of him to just pack up his toothbrush and go into rehab,"
Russell said. "He must have you at the very forefront of everything
he's thinking." Nicole answered, "You'll make me cry now – stop
it."
Nicole
also told Russell that she'd like to have more kids (she's already a mom to
Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12, from her marriage to Tom Cruise).
Here’s how it went down; when Russell asked, "Are you going to carry
a baby?" Nicole answered, "I would hope so."
Then
Russell added, "I want to see you walking around barefoot and
pregnant.” Every woman I know who’s spent any time down under has
told me that Australian men tend to be somewhat chauvinistic. I usually
dismiss such blanket statements as gross generalizations but I must say
Russell’s comment did lend some credence to that adage. Her reaction,
"I'd like to see that, too.”
Guys,
you’ve only been together a short while, hold your horse, will ya? There
are worse things in the world than not having children….like adopting them
and raising them as little scientologists.
While
I’m on the subject of raising little ones, Kimberly and Brad
Paisley are proud parents. The happy couple married in 2003 and just
announced the birth of their first child, February 22nd. Their
healthy baby boy was born at 5:00am central at a Nashville area hospital.
Kim and the baby are resting comfortably.
Kimberly
was reportedly in labor close to ten hours. The baby weighed in at 7 pounds
7 ounces and there’s no news of the little tyke’s name, yet.
Kim
is currently starring on the hit ABC sitcom According to Jim and will
next be seen in the feature film Eden Court. Brad is currently in
studio working on his next album and will launch Bonfires &
Amplifiers Tour on April 26 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
By
the way, Kellie Pickler is one of the opening acts on Brad‘s
upcoming tour. She’s been warned about what a prankster he is. She
says she can handle anything Brad does as long as he stays away from her
shoes. Kellie says it’ll be war if that happens.
Dierks
Bentley (right), currently on the road with his Live & Loud tour, is
thrilled to have reached headliner status. He said he will never open for
anyone else again. “After opening for Kenny (Chesney) twice and (George)
Strait twice, there's really nowhere else to go," Dierks told the Des
Moines Register.
Seems
like only yesterday, Keith Urban was opening for top dogs Kenny
Chesney and Tim McGraw. The cream really does rise to the
top. These days, up and comers are lining up to open for Keith and yet,
he’s still very humble about his success. In a recent interview with CMT
Canada, Keith told Paul McGuire that he sometimes still can’t
believe all those people are there to see him and that he still catches
himself thinking, “Wow, the guy playing after me is going to love this
crowd.”
When
Keith toured with Kenny Chesney in 2004, Kenny gave him a motorcycle
to thank him for opening for him. There may be speculation on his sexual
orientation, but there’s no doubt about his generosity. Kenny may very
well be the most generous man in country music.
Case
in point, on 60 Minutes last weekend we found out that last year
Kenny gave each one of his 100 crew members bonus checks. Ready for this? He
gave them each close to 14,000 dollars. That’s 1.4 million dollars in
bonus money, as a thank you for doing what they love and for working with a
man who is arguably one of the biggest talents in country music.
I’ve
got to get me a job working for Kenny Chesney.
And
finally, it's official. Billy Ray Cyrus (left), will be one of the
celebrities who will compete on the fourth season of ABC's "Dancing
with the Stars," when the show returns with a 2-hour premiere on
Monday, March 19.
Joining
Billy will be Paul McCartney's ex-wife, Heather Mills and
former 'N Sync member Joey Fatone, among others. Heather is
being touted as the first contestant to compete with an artificial limb. I
guess artificial boobs don’t count.
Until
next time, it’s not what they say about you, it’s what they whisper.
