Blue
Collar Comedy Tour - One For The Road

That's
funny right there, I don't care who you are... no really, I mean
that! These guys have two major things in common;
1. They're Southern.
2. They're damn funny.
I'm speaking of
course of the most successful comedian ever, Jeff Foxworthy,
Bill "Here's Your Sign" Engvall, Ron
"Tater Salad" White and Larry the Cable
Guy. Unless you have been under a rock for the last 4 years
or so, you surely have heard of these guys and their extremely
successful CDs, TV Specials and TV Series. The Cable TV channel,
Comedy Central, seems like they have a special Blue Collar
Weekend at least once a month. I can't tell you how many times I
have seen the TV Show and Comedy Specials and while I like a lot
of comedians for a variety of reasons, these guys talk about
their families and friends and sometimes I swear, they must be
related to me, or at least know some of the same people I know.
I think they've just changed the names to protect our mutual
friends and families' feelings. It's either that or the fruit
really doesn't fall far from the tree, and apparently the tree
doesn't fork much either.
The title of this
CD is One For The Road, more than implying that
this is the final installment in the highly successful Blue
Collar franchise, they actually come right out and say it... I
don't believe it for a minute. Two or three years from now I can
see the "One More For The Road" CD, or maybe,
"Blue Collar Comedy Tour, The South's Gonna Do It
Again". The Blue Collar guys will probably come up with
something more clever than those two examples, but you get the
idea. And why not, these guys are responsible for making
millions of people laugh for years, I saw Bill Engvall in
Nashville in 1996 or '97, I'm still laughing at the stories.
The Blue Collar
Comedy Tour series has made these guys Bazillions of dollars and
if nothing else has secured them stand-up gigs for the rest of
their lives. Even though Jeff and Bill were well known before
this started, it has surely made stars of Ron and Larry. Larry
has already made two movies that I know of including Larry
the Cable Guy - Health Inspector and the new Disney/Pixar
blockbuster Cars. Ron White mentions a couple of times
during his performance about an upcoming movie, we'll just have
wait and see.
The setting this
time is the historic Warner Theatre in Washington, DC and yes,
you will find a little political humor, but not as much as I
would have expected. What you get is more of the same down-home,
southern-style story-telling and observations that has made them
so popular. And it's great! If you need laughter in your life,
and we all do, then Jeff, Bill, Ron and Larry should be a part
of your life. Git-R-Done!
