To be perfectly fair
from the opening paragraph on the main page, George had his portion
of this article ready far longer than I. Love to George!
Steven
West
By Jim Weaver
Ladies,
lookie what I found for you. Steven West, he's one of those tattooed
singer/songwriting bad boys who can belt out a tune that just might
melt your heart. As I was listening to his music I had this sneaking
suspicion that this young man felt a Rock-n-Roll calling at one
time, but found his true passion in his country roots. Guess what,
as I was reading through his bio, my suspicions were confirmed. Born
and raised in a small town in New Jersey... WOW! There's an
association you don't hear very often, country artist from New
Jersey! But I digress.
West
resides where he belongs now in Nashville of course, sharing his
music with his fans each and every Wednesday through Saturday evenings at
World Famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge. Steven West is a star in the
making, it even states on his myspace that he's very close to a
major record deal. Just think you can say you heard it here first.

Ralph
Parker - A High Price For Low Livin’
By George
Peden
It’s that time of the month. That time when Jim Weaver, CSO’s intrepid powerhouse editor, gently chides me for a
Waiting in the Wings piece. So with a sense of prevailing urgency I went looking for someone who meets the charter of talent waiting just off the main stage.
Enter Ralph Parker.
As I rifled through a pile of review waiting CDs sitting neatly and nicely in a corner, I flung that, threw this, and sorted, disappointingly, through the hopefuls who had sent music along in the trust of a favorable word or three. Ralph Parker drew my interest. It proved to be a good choice; he’s certainly one artist who deserves more than a mere mention.
Spreading his talent across the great divide, Australia and Nashville, Parker is back with his fourth CD (I’ll be surely chasing the others) called
A High Price For Low Livin’. Out on Universal Sound Records and produced by
T. Jae Christian, the album is simply, in two words, surprisingly fresh.
With 12 tracks on board, three self-penned, the album is a showcase for Parker. (He only inked his record deal with Universal in 2006). The album sweeps across rockier moments – “A High Price (for low livin’)," “Somebody’s Gonna Get Hurt”, and the guitar-charged and fiddle-led “Burying Bones By The Dozen,” onto mellow cuts like “Sweet Perfume” and the understood ache of “An Old Valentine”.
With a clear, moody and melodic made-for-country voice; Parker is a definite wings waiter who impresses.
