Callahgan
By Jim Weaver Alright,
you caught me! Guilty as charged, I have in fact been surfing around
MySpace again, and look who I found this time... Callaghan.
Callaghan is the name of the band and the lead singer by the way,
and what a sweet country voice this lovely young lady has. At a time
when female country artist are belting and growling out the country
hits, this is what I call a very refreshing change.
Another
surprise to me was when I found out they are from the UK! Go figure,
not that jolly old England isn't capable of turning out good country
signers and bands, but it did take me by surprise when I've listened
to 2 or 3 songs before I find out they ain't from 'round here. Callaghan
currently has an EP for sale through their website titled Road to
Elmersville, it's a 4-song CD with video and proceeds will
benefit the Salvation Army. By the way, the title track was written
in dedication to Callaghan's Fan Club Secretary's father here in the
US, his name was James Elmer. You can read the whole, very touching
story, whilst listening to her beautiful voice on the Callaghan
MySpace link below. This
is a group worth keeping your eyes and ears on, I will be.

DeLon
By George Peden
DeLon is an independent singer and
songwriter from Tucson, Arizona. But his music is quickly gaining
global attention. Unlike the Nashville way of getting noticed –
publicists, gossamer photos and related hype –the man with the one
name is doing it his way – the traditional way. He’s making the
calls, sending out the promo kits and keeping it real and honest;
just like his music.
With two albums to his credit – Traditional
Country and Highways of Life – the fitness freak, he
trains five to six times a week, comes committed to keeping his
music flavored with shades of the reliable. With major influences
like Eddy Arnold and Jim Reeves, DeLon is enjoying wide appeal, with
his music grabbing radio play in Australia, the Czech Republic, and
even Japan.
A look at the review section of his
distributor, CD Baby, shows he’s a popular artist with established
country fans. Find out more by clicking on the link below.
If you like your country pure and
honest, far removed from the razzle dazzle and hype and hoopla,
check out one of this month’s worthy waiter in the wings, DeLon.
